EDITOR OF “CONNECT”
The West Midlands Synod is
seeking to appoint a successor to
Mrs Melanie Frew as Editor of “Connect”, the twice-yearly Synod
Magazine, from March 2007
The
Synod would like to continue to develop “Connect” as
an important means of
communication and is looking for someone with imagination, journalistic flair and design skills who would be interested in taking this forward.
“Connect”
will have a focus on “Good News” stories from our Churches, items of
interest about forthcoming events,
correspondence, and opportunities to explore current issues, as well as
communicating news of Synod.

Synod Evangelism Enabler and Communications Officer
South
Western Synod of the United Reformed Church
The South Western Synod covers over 100 churches in
areas covering Swindon, parts of Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol, Devon and
Cornwall.
The SW Synod seeks to fill 2 posts:
Synod Evangelism Enabler
which will be equivalent to a 2/3 ministerial scoping whose primary
function will be to assist local churches to determine a Mission
Strategy to reach out to their communities with the Gospel of Jesus.
A Synod Communications
officer which will be scoped at 1/3 of full time whose primary role will
be to develop a communications strategy within the Synod, including
responsibility for the maintenance of the Synod web site and a regular
form of communication with local churches.
These posts can be one combined post or separate
posts. The Communications Officer is open to all; the Evangelism Enabler
is likely to be a minister. It may be possible to scope the Evangelism
role with a 1/3 pastorate post. The posts will be based at the Synod
Office.

COMPTON

Appointment
of a CHAPLAIN
The
Hospice is seeking a Chaplain (Spiritual Care Co-ordinator) who will be
responsible for provision of spiritual and religious care to all
patients, visitors, staff and volunteers regardless of faith or life
stance.
The
Chaplain will provide ethical, theological, spiritual and pastoral
resources for individuals supporting them in their search for faith and
meaning. The Chaplain will facilitate the provision of inclusive worship
and religious expression reflecting the faith groups represented in the
hospice, and in response to individual need.
The
Chaplain must have acknowledged status within a mainstream faith
community.
Suitable
and authorized persons are appointed in consultation with the
appropriate ecumenical body, Black Country Churches Engaged.
Candidates,
who will be ordained, will ensure that the Hospice Chaplaincy Service
meets the Standards for Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplaincy.

New Restore post
RESTORE,
a project of Birmingham Churches Together, is
committed in its mission to ‘welcome the stranger’ through its
support of refugees and asylum seekers. A key element of that work is a befriending scheme
linking volunteers from Birmingham with refugees or asylum seekers.
Female Befriending
Support Worker (full time post, fixed term contract for 12 months
with the hope of extension as funds are confirmed)
£21,412
(based on NJC Scale 6, point 26 for 2007-2008, pay award pending)
This
challenging new post will be pivotal in developing the support service
and care that Restore offers to refugee and asylum seeking women and
their families and to Restore’s female volunteers.
The person appointed will need energy, passion and good
communication skills, together with experience of working with refugees,
asylum seekers and volunteers. Knowledge of church networks would be
useful.
