TOTAL WIPEOUT ON THE BBC
Peter
takes on trial of strength and bravery for the URC
The
Revd Peter Stevenson, United Reformed Church minister in Coventry,
features in the first programme of a new series of ‘Total Wipeout’
on BBC television on Saturday 4 July. It is described as an
extreme game show in which contestants put their strength, balance and
bravery to the test. Peter, who is 52, was chosen to be a
contestant after being nominated by the URC and attending a regional
audition. He was flown to Argentina with other contestants during April,
for filming.
The
outcome of the contest is a closely guarded secret until the programme
is screened. Peter said: “I do assemblies at three junior schools and
a special needs school; the children all want to know how many balls I
managed to get over – and whether I managed to avoid a dunking …….
While my 18-year-old daughter just wonders why she has to have a father
like me.”
Peter
was ordained in 2000; he previously worked both as a bookmaker and an
undertaker. He is currently minister to the north west Coventry group of
churches. He moves in September to Crossway, Elephant and Castle, South
London. He recently received a Doctor of Ministry from Princeton
Theological Seminary, New Jersey; his dissertation was on perceptions oc
community ministry
